The Global ABS Legal Clinics

An activity developed in the framework of implementation of the UNDP-GEF Global ABS Project

This service aims to cover some of the demands from indigenous peoples and local communities expressed during the negotiation of the Nagoya Protocol, to create an ombudsman-like entity on ABS to support and address issues and complaints related to indigenous peoples and local communities.

In this regard, the ABS Legal Clinics seeks to provide timely and appropriate assistance to indigenous and local communities in order to bring equality in the negotiation process of ABS agreements and contracts.

Additionally, the ABS Legal Clinics provide support to national competent authorities or focal points of the Nagoya Protocol in the finalization of ABS legal systems and ABS negotiations.

Those interested in getting support need to fill a form and submit the request through the Global ABS Community and the administrators of the community after an evaluation of the case will get them in contact with the most suitable expert to support the inquiry.
