Webinar on the Biological Diversity Act of India, Part 1
July 22 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm UTC+5.5
The Government of India enacted the Biological Diversity (BD) Act in 2002; notified the Biodiversity Rules in 2004 and formulated the guidelines for Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) of biological resources in 2014. This legal framework has served well to achieve the goals of conservation of biodiversity, sustainable utilization of biodiversity and fair and equitable sharing. Nevertheless, the understanding of this legal framework and issues related to its implementation have not been completely understood by a large number of stakeholders.
In order to effectively address these issues, the National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) in partnership with UNDP India has launched a Webinar Series to bring in leading experts and practitioners to share their professional expertise and respond to various Questions & Answers.
As part of this initiative, the 3rd Webinar is scheduled to be held on 22 July, 2020 at 11.00 AM (India time). The Invited Speaker will be Shri T Rabikumar, an Indian Forest Service Officer who has also earlier served as Secretary, National Biodiversity Authority (NBA). The webinar will be Moderated by Dr J Justin Mohan, Secretary, NBA and Dr V B Mathur Chairperson NBA will Welcome Webinar participants. Register here.
