Introduction to the Nagoya Protocol for the UK Pharma and Biotech Sectors

The Office for Product Safety and Standards, United Kingdom (UK), will host the webinar on Introduction to the Nagoya Protocol for the UK Pharma and Biotech sectors, on July 14th, 2021, from 10:00 to 11:15 BST.

This webinar will cover an introduction to the Nagoya Protocol and the legislation in force in the UK. The legislation is relevant to those conducting research into the properties of genetic resources that may have potential to be developed into a pharmaceutical product, and those carrying out product development.

The event will be addressed to those planning to utilise genetic resources from overseas may need to acquire permission, as well as negotiate terms of use and benefit sharing agreements with the providing country, prior to access.

Learning Outcomes:

The webinar aims to provide attendees with the knowledge and tools to:

1. Identify genetic material in-scope of the compliance measures in the UK

2. Explain the steps required to seek, keep and transfer genetic resources, associated traditional knowledge and related ABS documentation in line with the compliance measures
